Surprise, I'm back! Updates may come a little slow now that I finally have some time to think, but they'll be coming. So, I'll save the storytelling for later and get on with the video.
This is the first of four specially-timed videos. You'll understand what I mean.
Wow, it's been a while! Considering my terrible track record when it comes to being on time, surely nobody here should be surprised that I neglected this blog for months at a time. I didn't exactly want to, but I will, to the best of my ability, explain my reasons for not updating in such a long time. I hope this is sufficient.
The last post I made happened two days before I moved onto campus again. I thought I was prepared to keep it going, like I had been through the previous semester. I was wrong as hell. There were external forces at work, and they were keeping me from doing even things I wanted to do. I've put several projects on hold, ranging from Fan Drowned to a novelization project, and I even began to neglect my duties to the Zelda Wiki. That last one itself caused me much emotional turmoil, and it was a constant, endless loop of unhappiness. I wanted to work, but I didn't want to; I hated myself for not doing it, but I couldn't will myself to talk about it.
Following some time off from everything, I returned to the wiki's Slack channel and told them I wanted to resign, a full year after I joined. That was last week. Since then, my stress has let up considerably. I have plans to see a psychiatrist at the soonest opportunity, as a precaution and, hopefully, an assurance that nothing is wrong aside from my own error. My will is slowly returning, and I want to work harder at my classes. I'm still working up to physical activity, but I'm confident that I will reach it in time.
To be completely honest, I don't know when the next video update will be. I've really shamed myself by leaving this place to rot, but I really want to make it better. Hopefully, it will be soon. I will do my absolute best to keep this alive, especially considering:
That is Alex Hall's Twitter, and assuming this isn't a facetious answer with no meaning, we have a confirmation that Hubris is coming in 2016, presumably after Methods of Revolution is released. It's more than we've had to go on for a very long time (since the Ice Bucket challenge video, if I recall), so it's hard not to get excited at this.

Due to poor planning on my part, you're getting Christmas in July. This is the third video in the series, really before anything important happens. Before anyone thinks I'm just projecting my own story onto this, let me just say that I am doing exactly that. I figured since these exist, why not include them?

I understand that this update isn't a video, but I feel like it's worth mentioning here. A group of people with interest in the original Haunted Cartridge story and its following ARG are currently holding their own ARG. I've been a participant for its entire duration.
Following the abandonment of Remember.exe, some of the players of that ARG (minus Sam, the head of R.exe) have taken on the role of our game masters. Set in the same continuity as the story of the Moon Children, and obviously not canon to Alex Hall's work, it explores a separate cult, related to the Moon Children by association.
Though the ARG wasn't intended for a large audience, mainly intended for the survivors of Within Hubris, it's gathered a bit of attention on Reddit. So, I guess I'm plugging it here, after 7 months. The Internet Detectives (the Skype group formed to solve the ARG) is the main group tackling the game. Though it's technically possible for outside participation, the ID was the intended audience and it's suggested that you remain in contact with them if you wish to participate. This is the second video posted by Jadusable, just two days after his first. After this, over a year would pass until he came into contact with the being known as BEN. Though this is one of the first videos (and it's categorized as Prologue), from a story-focused perspective, this entry serves as an epilogue to the events of the Haunted Cartridge, as it introduces ideas that refer to the Moon Children. It's advised that this entry be skipped and returned to at the end of the Haunted Cartridge arc, if you have not experienced the story before.

...Horrifyingly, over the course of the story, all but a few of Rosa's predictions would come true, from describing the locales Jadusable would visit, to the foes he would face, all leading up to her now-infamous phrase in the video:
Player: "Any advice at all? Something that's going to save my life?" Rosa: "Don't open it.”
With such a vague phrase to go on, no one really knew what it could mean. At first everyone assumed that Rosa was telling Jadusable not to open the game's save file because it was haunted, but everyone later discovered that Rosa was trying to warn the very viewers themselves about an incident that would happen after Jadusable had released his fourth and final video.
However, the coincidences didn’t stop there.
The other video, featuring the game Prototype, was released two days after Bloodlines. It shows the main character, Alex, running around New York City killing pedestrians with “consume kills.” With tags including “terrible,” “fate,” “drown,” “me,” and “next,” it hints to more than is seen.

to her you end up being drowned in dialogue. What follows is a rather
creepy and cryptic conversation about the player and his future. Several
of the things she alludes to are kind of vague, though, like the lone
wolf, but her sporadic facial expressions coupled with her fourth wall
breakage definitely spooked the hell out of me when I first played the
game at night stoned.
This is the very post ever made by the man we know today as Jadusable. Before his encounter with the Haunted Cartridge and the mysterious old man, he played two games and uploaded moments to YouTube. This is the first.

On September 07, 2010, when day four.wmv was first released, Jadusable only had two other videos on his YouTube channel. One of them was a cryptic prediction scene involving a character named Rosa, taken from Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, and the other was random gameplay footage from Prototype.
Both of these videos were uploaded in the summer of 2009, before the events of the Haunted Cartridge began.
While the Prototype video was seemingly standard fare for a gaming channel on YouTube, the Bloodlines video was almost curiously out-of-place. All it contained was the dialogue of an unimportant character from a game released in 2003, and that was the full extent of it. Rosa, in Bloodlines, has a mutation that gives her the ability to predict the future; when the player talks to her, she gives cryptic clues as to what that game's plot will be.
At first, she was only a side-thought to those desperately trying to help save Jadusable from the haunted cartridge, but as the story progressed, people began to notice there were some disturbing similarities between Rosa's cryptic messages and what was happening to Jadusable.

The video description itself contained hidden words that were central to the haunting - "drowned," "stoned," "lone wolf," and "fourth wall," and viewers suddenly realized that it was too much of a coincidence to be unrelated...

This is the second part of Blueshift Productions' Prequel Arc. It's here that we begin to see a bit more action. This is the longest video of the arc.
Michael and Cameron begin an investigation into the events of the previous night. Cameron gets a late-night visit.
The first Group 4 video is from a Roblox player, most likely named Richie. Aside from Roblox, his videos included a six-part BEN series, which I've named simply "Back."
After selecting a suspicious file, the protagonist runs out of options during an encounter.
You know, I never realized how difficult this would be. Every three days, I choose one video to present, and there's really no structure, or even a way to build one. This intenselybothers me. Similarly, there's the problem of having a clear division among types of videos, such as gameplay, live-action, still image, and parody. Perhaps the last part could be added to the post format, but it's long enough as is, and I don't want it to look ugly.
Anyway, I guess the point I'm trying to make is that this blog is still in the testing stages, and it's going to take some time to flesh out an organized system of posting certain videos by type, group and artist. Right now, it's working out well with the randomized posts, but we're only three in and it could cause problems later. I hope you decide to stick around for all of it, because it's going to get better as time passes.

Our first Hubris video comes from Within Hubris user Spirkiroid. It's actually more of a parody of the Moon Children than an actual BEN encounter, but it's still pretty funny in context.
Within Hubris resident Spirkiroid gives sound advice as to what you should do, in the event of a "visit" from the Moon Children.
This video comes from just two months after Jadusable's first posts, and the beginning of the Moon Children incident. I chose this video for tonight, specifically because of the last few seconds. They reflect my opinion at the moment, regarding this blog.
In the Zora Hall, the protagonist finds himself compelled to escape BEN in the one way he knows it might work.
I'm going to take the time, before preparing the first video post, to inform you of how they will look, for the sake of consistency. What follows is what you will see.

After some careful thinking, I've decided that a strict release schedule isn't the way to go. I don't have the free time to conform to a certain time each day, so if anything, a new post should be expected at least once every three days, maybe less. I still haven't fleshed everything out here, and this sort of thing is new to me.
The reason for "at least once every three days" is that, no matter how much content there is, I will eventually run out. Seeing as this is inevitable, I've chosen to delay that as much as possible. There may come a time when I set a definite schedule, but that day isn't today. However, the first real post will happen tonight at 11:30 PM EST.
Hello again. This post will detail how the videos posted here will be sorted. This post will also be linked on the side for easy access. Now here is how we're going to do things around here.
Each video will fall into one of seven categories, the first five ranking in quality:
1 - Hubris: the videos produced by members of Within Hubris, former and current.
2 - Priority: videos produced by the more well-known of those who weren't around Hubris.
3 - Successful: videos produced by lesser-known people, yet still hold up in quality.
4 - Acceptable: videos produced by lesser-known people, and somewhat lacking in quality.
5 - Fair: videos produced by lesser-known people, containing the least quality.
The final two are special cases, and are not based on quality:
6 - Adaptation: adaptations of the original story and/or following arcs.
7 - Music: original music composed in reference/tribute to the BEN DROWNED story.
So far, these seven categories will be the sorting tool. However, I can understand that if one happens to notice his or her work is listed in the bottom two tiers, there might be some upset feelings. Not to worry though, because the fact that they aren't in the top three does not in any way mean that they're bad. The criteria I use to sort these videos is not based on my own opinion of these videos, but rather a combination of factors including views, production quality, and if applicable, quality of written material.
You may be wondering why this is solely for videos, rather than fan art or fan fiction. To this, I ask you, is it worth it? A man can only handle wading through so much Jeff x BEN fics before going insane. I may consider adding quality material of the sort here in the future (obviously excluding rule 34), but for now, it's not something I can include.

Hello, everybody. My name is Wyatt, and I'm here to present to you a project of mine that has been planned out for quite a few months now. If you're here, I can safely assume you know of and/or read BEN DROWNED, alternatively called Jadusable or Haunted Majora's Mask. In turn, if you were a fan of it, you may be aware that there are a ton of fan-made BEN videos on YouTube. This is where I come in.
For those who don't know, and unfortunately, that is a lot of people, the story didn't end with just the creepypasta. After that, the people who were around for when the story was first posted on 4chan were treated to an ARG (alternate reality game) in which the story continued, and became even deeper than before. Out of this ARG, a community spawned, and was hosted on a forum called Within Hubris. I have been a part of this community for four years, and am actually the owner of the Jadusable Wiki. Having been a part of it for this long, I've decided it's my duty to archive everything possible.
The purpose of this project, tentatively titled "Fan DROWNED," is to archive a library of fan-made BEN-related videos. Of course, other things may be added to the list of things to do after a while, but this is the starting point. I realize the community for this has dwindled, and many have lost interest, but it's not the end. So, I'm asking you to help. I already have a massive list of videos to add here, and nothing would make me happier than to see this list get even bigger.
